About the Artist
Kendra Schwabel has always enjoyed meandering through nostalgic neighborhoods, whether it be a Midwestern main street or one of the many charming European villages she has visited. As an artist, she enjoys capturing that sense of familiarity about a place with her paintings. It was a personal fascination with historic buildings that drew her to art so many years ago. Admirers of her work enjoy the realistic vignettes that incorporate the smallest details-- from doorknobs and menu boards on a cafe window to items that other artists might consider insignificant. Kendra seeks out those places that catch her interest, then reaches in to find something that others will relate to on a personal level. "What I am looking for are the everyday places that give us a sense of humanity, then I try to capture something that speaks to people about their own experiences."* The focus of her present work is an exciting new collection of Tuscan landscapes inspired by a recent visit to the countryside near Siena, Italy. Kendra's artwork is found in private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. An artist for more than 25 years, she works from her home studio in Minnesota. Her work is available for sale at regional art shows (see show schedule) and at the Stillwater Art Guild Gallery in Stillwater, MN.
